estate brokerage and development company.
In 1993, Mr. Moore sold his interest in Great Lakes and The Estes Group and formed
Moore Real Estate Services, a residential appraisal company where the company serviced
many long term clients including Old Kent Bank, Michigan National Bank, and NBD
Bank. From 1993 to the present, Mr. Moore also has continued his work in a brokerage

and by additionally providing brokerage, remodel and design/build services of accessible
and flex design properties.
The company was also formed to fulfill Mr. Moore’s goal of both the new development
and re-development of cutting edge, “outside the box” properties that incorporate
universal design. Currently, Mr. Moore is an owner and partner in the continuing
adaptive re-use of Bethlehem Lutheran Church on “Medical Hill” into 15 high end
residential condominiums.

Mr. Mark Schaafsma
Mark Schaafsma, Design/Build
Since his start over in the construction business over 20 years ago, Mr. Schaafsma
has built a strong resume’ that covers a broad spectrum of experience within the
construction industry.
Early in his career, as a Construction Foreman with Pioneer Construction, one of
the largest contracting firms in West Michigan, Mr. Schaafsma oversaw a number of
important projects for the company. These projects were very diverse in nature and
ran the full spectrum from the total refit of a 1956 Hatteras yacht , to the building
of an 11,000 square foot home of the owner of Pioneer. He also oversaw the construction
of many significant additions and new construction of homes for many important Pioneer
clients.
During this time, he also gained extensive experience in commercial contracting,
building numerous commercial use properties ranging from transportation facilities
to office buildings, and retail strip centers. These varied construction projects
gave Mr. Schaafsma experience in working with the full spectrum of building code
requirements as well as experience in the variety of construction materials, techniques,
and clientele.
Since leaving Pioneer in the early 90’s to establish his own company, Mr. Schaafsma
has gone on to build numerous homes ranging from 1,900 square feet to 8,000 square
feet, has acted as a developer and builder in his own platted community. During
this time he also founded Michigan Kitchens, a cabinet design and installation company,
where he has supplied products and services to clients that ranging from individual
homeowners to major commercial and health care clients.
Several years ago, Mr. Schaafsma was asked to consult on the construction of an
accessible home. Through the process of building the home, he was introduced to
the needs of clients with physical challenges and the lack of knowledge that exists
among builders concerning the needs of these clients. Since that time Mr. Schaafsma
has attend numerous workshops on construction for universal design as well as “age
in place” design/build techniques, and has gone on to act as both consultant and
builder on many accessible projects. Most importantly, he has learned how to listen
to his clients as they express their individual needs, and he has learned how to
use innovative custom ideas and techniques to build both beauty and usability into
the homes that he remodels or builds for his clients.
Mr. Robert Weaver
Weaver Home Design & Interiors
Mr. Robert Weaver, MA, University of Michigan, spent the first ten years of his
professional career focused on commercial architectural projects as Director of
Design for MHB Design Inc. During this period of time, Mr. Weaver gained significant
experience in both commercial and residential accessible and ADA compliant design
and function. As a partner in the company, he also helped grow the MHB from a staff
of 7 in 1993 to 35 full time employees, transforming the company from a service
grade architectural document firm, into award winning design-oriented architectural
and engineering firm.
After selling his interest in MHB Design, Mr. Weaver formed Weaver Home Designs
& Interiors, where his main focus is on the design of executive homes. Mr. Weaver
also has incorporated accessible design into a number of his floor plans effectively
marrying quality residential design and materials, with the subtle functionality
of accessible, zero step, and flexible design.
Mr. Weaver also maintains a strong presence in the area of commercial design consultation,
rendering and marketing.
He also possesses both the technology and knowledge necessary to transform one dimensional
floor plans into three dimensional “walk through” renderings before the home is
built. These capabilities allow Mr. Weaver’s clients to clearly see what the interior
of the home will look and feel like long before critical decisions are made. Joining
technology, vision and know how offers his clients a unique opportunity to “see”
what his collaborative designs will look like once they are built, which helps him
give them exactly what they want in a home.
Weaver Home Designs & Interiors possesses all of the expertise necessary to present,
develop, and specify any project, including architectural drawings in AutoCAD, 3-Dimensional
drawings in either computerized photo realistic or hand drawn form, as well as colorized
renderings for client use, or for marketing materials purposes.
